Itinerary

Day 1Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary / Olpejeta

Pick up from your place of residence in Nairobi then commence the drive through the lush Kikuyu farmlands and coffee plantation to the cool Kenyan highlands to arrive at the Sweet waters sanctuary by 12noon.

On arrival, proceed for game drives in the sanctuary in search for wildlife including: – the rare black rhinos, lion, cheetah and numerous bird species.

Lunch is served at Olpejeta Hotel then relax until 2pm which will be good time to go and observe the rare chimpanzees and participate in feeding them.
The 24,000 Acres Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary is currently part of the Ol Pejeta conservancy. Formerly called Ol Pejeta Ranch. It was a cattle ranch for breeding of beef cattle. One of the attractions of Sweetwaters is the history behind it. In 1988, the former owners Lonhro Africa took over the management of the ranch. In 1989 they set it up Sweetwaters Game Reserve as a sanctuary for the endangered black rhino and other wildlife populations (including the “Big Five”).

Between 1989 and 1993, twenty-two black rhinos were introduced into Sweetwaters from other sanctuaries. Today, with the birth of 29 calves the population has steadily increased, making Sweetwaters Sanctuary a successful breeding ground of these ancient animals.

After game drives, drive back to your Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2Fishing at Lake Michelson

Early wake-up call today by 0700hrs then after a cup of coffee, you will be picked up from the camp by the euro-copter – AS 350 which is adapted to fly East Africa’s hot and humid environments. Proceed for a morning sightseeing tour of Mount Kenya – Africa’s second highest mountain.

You will see the blue green – Lake Michelson sparkle in the morning sun. The lake is almost inaccessible by foot and located well off the beaten truck in a deep crater which falls away to a spectacular valley. Here you enjoy picnic breakfast and thereafter we proceed to fish on the lake in an attempt to catch big trout found here.

Later return back to the camp by 1130hrs and spend rest of the day at leisure.

The rest of the meals and overnight is at the camp.

Day 3Departure

Breakfast at Olpejeta in the morning by 8.30am then check out and at 10am and proceed for a short game drive en-route as you drive out of the game sanctuary.
Afterwards after exiting the park gates, continue the drive to Nairobi where you are set to arrive by 1pm then drop off back to your place of residence.
End of services.
