After lunch, short siesta until 3pm then afterwards proceed for game drives in the Sweetwaters Private game sanctuary.

The 24,000 Acres Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary is currently part of the Ol Pejeta conservancy. Formerly called Ol Pejeta Ranch. It was a cattle ranch for breeding of beef cattle. One of the attractions of Sweetwaters is the history behind it. In 1988, the former owners Lonhro Africa took over the management of the ranch. In 1989 they set it up Sweetwaters Game Reserve as a sanctuary for the endangered black rhino and other wildlife populations (including the “Big Five”).

Between 1989 and 1993, twenty-two black rhinos were introduced into Sweetwaters from other sanctuaries. Today, with the birth of 29 calves the population has steadily increased, making Sweetwaters Sanctuary a successful breeding ground of these ancient animals. After game drives today, drive back to your Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3Fishing at Lake Michelson – Mount Kenya

Early wake-up call today then after a cup of coffee, you will be picked up from the camp by the euro-copter – AS 350 which is adapted to fly East Africa’s hot and humid environments. Proceed for a morning sightseeing tour of Mount Kenya – Africa’s second highest mountain.

You will see the blue green – Lake Michelson sparkle in the morning sun. The lake is almost inaccessible by foot and located well off the beaten truck in a deep crater which falls away to a spectacular valley. Here you enjoy picnic breakfast and thereafter we proceed to fish on the lake in an attempt to catch big trout found here.

Later return back to the camp by 1130hrs and spend rest of the day at leisure.

The rest of the meals and overnight is at the camp.

Day 6Balloon Safari in the Masai Mara

Today you will be awakened by an early morning cup of tea at 5.30am then you are driven to the take-off site where you meet your fully qualified pilot. As dawn breaks watch the rainbow colored balloon slowly fill with air and rise into the air.

Balloon safari in the Masai Mara is one of the most magical experiences you can take part in when visiting the Masai Mara. Enjoy a bird’s eye-view of the wildlife below and afterwards descend to a scenic champagne breakfast cooked on the balloons burners and served on the savannah plains.

When all is ready, you will be helped into the stout wicker basket (a typical balloon carries around 8-16 passengers and is equipped with seats and safety belts), the sandbags will be cast off, and the balloon will rise into the cool of the morning air. Driven by the wind, and guided by jets of hot air from the gas-burners (which allow it to rise or fall according to the pilot’s direction), the balloon will fly for a period of around 45 minutes (trailed by a team of ground vehicles). Then, as the morning sun rises, it will descend to a gentle controlled-landing on the plains.

Celebrate your flight with a glass of chilled champagne the you will receive your ‘flight certificate’ from your balloon pilot, before sitting down to a full English breakfast, cooked on the burners of the balloon. Afterwards enjoy a leisurely game-drive back to the Camp. Spend rest of the day at leisure in your camp

All the rest of the meals are served at the – Governors Main Camp.

Day 7Fishing on Lake Victoria

The fishing in Lake Victoria is exciting and both Nile Perch and Tilapia can be caught. At Mfangano Island Camp there are a number of fishing boats which have been well equipped for trawling for Nile Perch.

The Nile Perch is the king of the lake’s fish. It can grow to 1.8 meters (6 feet) long, and weigh 140 kilograms (300 pounds). Fish of 5 to 15 kilos are regularly caught, and are delicious eating.

Casting for Tilapia at sunset, with a glass of chilled white wine, is a pleasant way to spend an evening. Whilst you are fishing you can enjoy the bird-life resident along the lake shore, the families of otters amongst the rocks and colorful Luo fishing villages along the shore. You can then savour freshly caught fish for lunch or dinner, prepared by our expert local chefs.

Later in the evening you will return back to Mfangano Island Camp / similar after sunset for dinner followed by overnight.

The walk to the village takes half an hour, along the picturesque lakeshore.

The residents here are very friendly and will happily show you around their village. It is also possible to visit the local school, which has been re-built with the help of Mfangano Island Camp and other generous guests.
