Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be met by your driver guide and driven to The Tribe hotel. Check in, freshen up, and relax after the long flight. Dinner followed by overnight at The Tribe hotel.
Pick up from your hotel in Nairobi at 8.30am by our driver guide in the morning. Enjoy a leisurely drive through the lush Kikuyu farmlands and coffee plantations to the cool Kenyan highlands to arrive at the Aberdare Country Club in time for lunch.
The club is the base hotel for your tree hotel, The Ark Tree Lodge. Lunch at the club. At 1430 hrs, transfer to the Ark, which is located in the Aberdare National Park, with small overnight bags, as most of the luggage is left at the club. The Ark has various decks and balconies for easy viewing and photography of wild game. Dinner and overnight game viewing at The Ark Tree Lodge.
After an early breakfast, depart your hotel and commence the drive to Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary. Start your day with a morning game drive to see the conservancy’s residents in a different light. You may also wish to try various activities, such as visiting the chimpanzee sanctuary, Baraka, the blind black rhino, or exploring the Education Centre.
The 24,000-acre Sweetwater’s Game Sanctuary is currently part of the Ol Pejeta conservancy. Formerly called Ol Pejeta Ranch. It was a cattle ranch for the breeding of beef cattle. One of the attractions of Sweetwater’s is the history behind it. In 1988, the former owner, Lonhro Africa, took over the management of the ranch. In 1989, they set up Sweetwater’s Game Reserve as a sanctuary for the endangered black rhino and other wildlife populations (including the “Big Five”). Between 1989 and 1993, twenty-two black rhinos were introduced into Sweetwaters from other sanctuaries. Today, with the birth of 29 calves, the population has steadily increased, making Sweetwater’s Sanctuary a successful breeding ground for these ancient animals.
Lunch is served at the Sweetwaters Serena Camp. Afterwards, relax for a while until 2pm when you proceed for an afternoon game drive. At 5pm exit the conservancy and drive to your hotel at Fairmont Mt. Kenya Safari Club. Upon arrival proceed to check in and freshen up. Dinner followed by overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast today you will have an opportunity to enjoy thrilling eco-adventure activities such as horse riding while sightseeing in the conservancy. At 11am check out then proceed to enjoy a delicious meal before you commence the journey back to Nairobi. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at the airport to catch your flight back home.
